The Drive, My Day & Where’s the Milk?

  • I hope every one had a fab Mother’s Day! I spent the day in NYC. Hubby’s grandfather died so we drove up last Friday and returned home this past Tuesday. Yes, we drove in a car for 12hours with a 6 month old! He wasn’t bad on the way up. He fought sleep a little but other than that, he was great. Coming home, was another story. This little guy cried and/or screamed for the last 3 hours of the trip! I was at my wits end. I had Hubby stop, thinking RJ needed his diaper changed, or he was hungry. The diaper was dry and when I tried to nurse, he laughed in my face, literally! He just didn’t want to be in the car seat. I wanted to leave him at the rest area, luckily, I love him to much to do that.
  • So, because we didn’t really celebrate Mother’s Day on the actual day, my guys are took me out to dinner tonight and yesterday they gave me roses, sour candy and a bottle of Moscato, some of my favorite things:) Love them.
  • I’m pleased to announce that RJ spent last night in his room, in his crib for the very first time. Yeah, I know it was past time. The 6 month mark was my cutoff for sleeping with us and breastfeeding. I must admit, it was hard to leave him in that crib. Well, it was hard for me, Hubby was like so long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, goodbye! LOL
  • Speaking of nursing, I noticed when I went to nurse him around 5 this morning, I didn’t appear to have any milk!? I never felt a let down or anything. RJ sucked and sucked and barely got a drop. Later that morning, I had the same issue. This was surprising because my milk production was fine that entire day, even when he nursed before I put him down for the night. I had pop a few of my fenugreek and blessed thistle pills to help me out. It has helped a some. I have to do something because RJ is not a fan of the Enfamil formula just yet. So, I have to mix in breast milk and ease him into formula. I don’t know if he doesn’t like formula at all or if it’s just the Enfamil. Truth be told, if the Enfamil tastes anywhere near how it smells, I wouldn’t want to drink it either! Another blogger had the same issue with formula with her daughter and she switched from Enfamil to Earth’s Best and her daughter loves it. I have to make sure I all my breast milk is gone before I buy Earth’s Best. It doesn’t come in small containers and it’s $30/can. I don’t want to spend the money and find that he doesn’t like it. I’m ready to stop pumping, so I hope we get this formula thing down soon.
