Sticking To It

One of my Lenten promises was to exercise 3 or more times each week and to be more mindful of my portions and what I eat.  In other words, lose weight and be more healthy and fit.  I figured if I made this promise before God then I wouldn’t renege.  As my Hubby pointed out to me, I’m not good at sticking to things.  *He likes to remind me that I started a program to become a certified wedding planner several years ago and quit mid way through.*  That and the fact that I’ve been whining talking to him about losing this “baby” weight for 2 1/2 years and really hadn’t taken any strides to really do it.  Well, this time was different.  I stuck with my Jillian Michael’s 30-Day shred dvd and my Playstation Zumba and I worked it out.  Trust me, more times than not, I just wanted eat cookies and ice cream and sleep, have 2nds and 3rds of whatever we were eating or a couple of glasses of wine, but I would push through and work out or just have a light snack.

I’m happy to report that I’ve loss a total of 5 pounds and 3 inches! I’m one pound shy of my pre-pregnancy weight. It’s a slow loss, but I’m so proud of myself.   I most pleased by the inches from my mid-section.  This is my problem area.  It’s where I carry my weight, even pre-baby.  After giving birth, it only got worse.  I keep pulling out the measuring tape to make sure it’s real and that I’ve actual loss the inches.

With my progress, my exercise dvd collection has grown.  It now includes Jillian Michael’s Shred with Weights and her ab dvd.  I’m thinking Jeanette Jenkins Bikini Boot Camp will we joining them soon.  *Being is a bikini isn’t my goal, but I really want to try one of her dvds.* Once the weather decides it’s in favor of reflecting the actual season we’re in, I’ll add more outdoor running into the mix.  I would like to lose 5 to 6 more pounds and a several more inches.  *When I began, my BMI indicated I was one loaded baked potato away from being overweight for my height.  I want to lose enough weight to put me at the mid-range for normal weight for my height.*  

It would be nice to have reached my goals in time for the Beyonce concert in August. I’m not setting a time frame. I just want to keep at it and see what happens.  I’ll be happy if I’m still on track and sticking to it when August rolls around.  However, if I can wear a freakum dress to the concert, I’ll be happy with that too;)

    Go girl!!!! I’m so proud of you!!!! Keep up the great work. We’ll be lookin’ good come summertime! I’ll have to buy myself a freakum dress, too for the concert!

    Oh… You are going to see Beyonce!! Sneak me in your purse! I need to get back active and I keep putting it off but you ladies are inspiring me to get my booty moving!!

      My girlfriends and I will be seeing Mrs. Carter in NYC!
      It has taken me 2 1/2 years to get serious about dropping these pounds.

    Hey Jenni! Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier this week.

    Congrats on starting a healthier lifestyle. I’ve been on the same path lately and boy is it hard to maintain. I am in a wedding in a few months, so I’m trying my best to lose a few pounds before then. Hope you have a fabulous time at the concert.
