The last time we took professional family pictures, I was 8 months pregnant. It was our maternity shoot, *If you click on Galleries and scroll to Maternity, you can view a few of my pictures.* October 2010 with Wendy of Aphrodite Photography. Wendy also took our engagement and wedding photos.
Well, RJ is now 20 months old! The first few months after he was born, I was experiencing serious skin issues and wasn’t up for being in pictures. Vain, but true. So, I figured I had a nice camera so I could take pics of him myself and save some cash. Many of the pictures turned out pretty decent. This is my fave! He’s 1 month old.
However, after month 4, I stopped putting in a lot of efforts. I did pick up the camera again and ventured outdoors for month 9. I like these, too.
A few months ago my job hosted a fundraising gala featuring both silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing. A local photographer had two packages in the silent auction, a wedding package and an “anytime” package. The “anytime” package is just that, four sittings within a year for any events or moments of the winner’s choosing. I was working that night so I had Hubby bid on and watch the anytime package. We won! This past Tuesday, we had our first sitting. Emily of Kismet Photography came to our home to snap pics of RJ’s playtime and bedtime routines. She got shots of us playing together, him brushing his teeth, putting on pjs, reading bedtime stories and more! I like the fact that not only will we have professional photos of our family, but they won’t be the standard studio shots. I’m so excited and can’t wait to see them.
Have you and your family taken professional pictures? If so, how often? If not, why?
