If we took a holiday

Happy New Year!

After our Disney trip in November, the last month and a half of last year was a blur. *One day I’ll actually write a post about our trip* For the most part, our holiday season was quiet and I was more than ok with that.

I enjoyed my 2 weeks off for Christmas. Hubby was off the week of Christmas, so we sent RJ to school a couple of days that week and just hung out together. The week of New Year’s Hubby went back to work for a few days and I sent RJ to school so I could relax in and enjoy the quiet.

Christmas morning!

Christmas morning!

Before, I was back at work. As I type this, our tree is still lit and fully decorated and the stockings are still hanging with care. My plan was to take everything down last weekend, but… Not to worry, RJ has informed me that we’re “taking down Christmas” this weekend!

Well, we’re now a week into 2016.   I have few organization and decorating projects I want to accomplish this year.  We’ve been in this house for 8 years and I feel like I’m just hitting my stride with decorating.  Are we ever really finish decorating our homes?  Next week, Hubby and I will celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. For the first time in 4 years we’re planned a trip without RJ!  We haven’t gone away overnight as a couple without our child in FOUR YEARS! Date nights are great, but I’m really looking forward to this trip. His godparents agreed to keep him for a couple of nights while we head to a cozy B&B in the NC mountains. They have a 6 year old daughter and she and RJ get along well.

Speaking of RJ 2016 is going to be a big year for him.  He just has a few months left at the preschool he’s been attending since he was 8 months old.  He will attend summer camp at the YMCA for this summer for the first time. Then, he will start kindergarten in August.  He was accepted into the  partial language immersion elementary school! *Here is a post from when we toured the school in 2014* We’re all excited that he will be learning Spanish.  The fact that many of his preschool homies will be attending the school too, is icing on the cake.

It’s such a big transition year. He’s fine, but I’m getting nervous.  I didn’t shed a tear when I left him on his first day of daycare.  I don’t think I’ll be able to say the same come August.

How was your first week of 2016? Do you have major plans/goals for this new year?
