A Little of This and A Little of That

  • After weeks of debating about vacations, e.g. where to go, how long, just a family trip, can I throw in a “me”‘ trip. Well, decisions have finally been made! I’m taking a “me” trip.  I’ve really been missing my sister, she lives in NYC. So, I told Hubby I wanted to go visit her for a weekend.  I found a cheap ticket a couple of days ago, but when I went to purchase it last night  the price had gone up:(  I searched but couldn’t find anything at the original price. The cost hadn’t gone up that much, but I really wanted to pay the cheaper price. Then, I remembered I had frequent flier miles! Luckily, I had enough. I just had to pay $15 each way for fees and I purchased travel insurance for and additional $17. Voila! I’m heading to NYC in 3weeks for $47!
  • As for our family vacation, we’ve picked a spot and dates! We’re heading to Myrtle Beach in September.  We found a nice place on the beach that’s reasonably priced.  I’m looking forward to a laid back trip with my guys! This will be our first real vacation with just the 3 of us:)
  • I started a diet! I finally stopped making excuses and got fed up enough with the way I look in my clothes to get started.  Plus, this post from Amber over at The YeYo Diaries  gave me the final push I needed.  I haven’t loss all of my baby weight. Don’t get me wrong I’m not huge, but the few baby pounds that I’m still clinging to are sitting right in my mid-section.  Being an otherwise petite woman with a pooch is not cool! Especially, when people are rude and congratulate me on my non-existent baby… *This happens to me more often than I’d like to admit:|*  So, I’ve started exercising and counting calories.  I’m using myfitnesspal *Thanks Roses Daughter for tweeting your fitness pal updates, that’s how I chose it;)* and I’m amazed at how many calories are in the things I eat.  So, far I’ve lost 1.6lbs!!! I goal is not lose lots of weight, but to shed a few pounds, inches, be active and be more aware of what and how much I eat.
  • RJ is becoming more and more vocal every day! A few days ago we were reading one of his books and he pronounced the colors so clearly that I cried! He’s really becoming his own little person.  He has a quirky sense of humor, he loves to be read to, music, dancing, playing ball and being silly! He loves helping out around the house. Whether it’s putting up groceries or sweeping *he has his own broom*,  he’s always game to help.  I’ve started letting him help me cook. We started with pizza, simple enough.  Now, every time I grab the bag of flour, he starts pushing his chair in the kitchen to help.  He has his moments where he’s stubborn and hard-headed but I’m really enjoying him and this age. Our only issue right now is he hates the tub and getting his hair washed.  He hated the tub a few months ago, but he got over it and began to enjoy it. Now, we’re right back where we started… Any suggestions on how we can get over this?
  • I saw my dermatologist yesterday, and my eczema appears to be under control. I took my last steroid pill Tuesday.  My skin has improved tremendously. Not only is it no longer dry and flaky, but the itchiness is completely gone! I still have some discoloration on my face and neck, but the doctor says the cream I’m using will help get that back to normal, soon. Even Hubby has been commenting on how good my skin is starting to look:)

All of Hubby’s fam & a good bit of mine are in NYC, so we’re there a lot. It never feels like a vacation when we go. This time it will be a vacation for me!
This diet is kicking my behind, but it’s necessary.

Yay! I’m glad you’re getting some alone time in, as well as a family vacay! And a round trip ticket for less than $50??!!! What a blessing.
You know I’m right there with you with taking better care of my body. Thanks for the shout out! I’m also using myfitnesspal.com and it’s such a huge reality check to see what we waste our calories on. Keep up the good work!

I’m so exicted to be taking my first “me” trip since I had Pookah! Excited and nervous. I really don’t want to leave my baby, but I know it’s time.
We’re going on vacation with my in laws in three weeks, but I’m trying to plan a vacation for just the three of us in late September around C-Dub’s birthday. We went to Myrtle beach before, but it just rained the whole time we were there. Maybe we’ll try again? or maybe a short cruise.
Yay for fitness pal! When I use it, I love it. But i’ve been off for the last week and haven’t weighed myself at all. I need to get on the ball because I’ve got to buy a bathing suit this week!
Glad your skin is clearing up!
