As promised, here is our Christmas in a few words and a few more pictures!
First, I’ll start with RJ’s first performance in his school’s Christmas program ) Sadly, I was unable to attend, but Hubby took pics and even got a bit of it on video.
Each class sang songs. His class, the toddlers, sang Jingle Bells. Well, RJ rang the bell, but he was a little shocked by the crowd and didn’t sing.
The Sunday before Christmas we headed to Charlotte for the dedication of a family member’s baby. We also made plans to have a group lunch at Red Robin with our best friends and their families.
Christmas Eve we kept with our tradition and headed to the family Christmas mass that afternoon. Then, that evening we headed a few miles away to join my brother, his girlfriend and her family at their annual Christmas Eve feast. They don’t do traditional holiday food for the feast. Instead we had grilled steak, chicken, salmon and a baked potato bar! Yum-O
Christmas morning Hubby and I were up and ready for RJ to see what Santa brought him. However, RJ wasn’t so eager!
We finally got him downstairs. Was his first reaction elation that Santa brought him the truck he asked for? No. He didn’t even pay attention to the gifts. He was more interested in the conspiracy that was the disappearance of Santa’s cookies and milk! Though we explained that Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk before he left, RJ was not hearing that. He promptly accused who he thought to be the real culprits….Brooklyn and Bailey, our dogs!
Once we got over that, he turned his sights to the gifts.
A few hours later, we headed down to the Lowcountry to spend the day with my family in Edisto Beach. During our trip to VA Beach for Thanksgiving, my family decided they wanted to rent a beach house for Christmas. We decided that instead at the house for a few days, that we would just join them for the day. The house was beautiful and we really enjoyed spending the day with the fam.
*RJ was adamant about keeping on his Santa pjs all day…*
…and there you have it.
